Beardale Miniatureland

Tour

An aerial view of Beardale Miniatureland

The tour through Beardale Miniatureland is self-guided, so you may take as much time as you want. All displays are indoors so it’s enjoyable even on a rainy day. Don’t forget your camera! There are 4 complete villages with working trains:

Herb Egin the modeler with his Canadian Prairie Town model
  • English Tudor Village
  • Canadian Prairie Town
  • Swiss Mountain Village
  • Medieval German Town

All of these towns have been built to a scale of 1:25 (inches), with LGB trains. Virtually every building you see in these villages has been modelled from a full-size original. All of the model buildings, landscaping, and painting has been done by Herb Egin. Other 1:25-scale exhibits include:

  • Last Spike Heritage Display
  • Haida Fishing Village
  • Japanese Temple and Sand Garden

There are also 5 HO-scale exhibits depicting scenes from Europe and North America.

The young (and young-at-heart) visitors enjoy our two buildings featuring life-size animated toyland and Mother Goose nursery rhymes. All of the displays come to life at the push of a button.

For those wanting to appreciate the natural surroundings, a View Tower allows a bird’s-eye view of the river and mountains, and our recently-added nature trail complements the indoor tour.
